This duplex project, up high in the sky, was injected with personality by a young and vibrant couple with a large collection of contemporary art. With the aim of creating a space that would accommodate a growing family, multi-passionate pursuits, and a colorful and relaxed environment to host friends, they wanted to feel like they were walking on clouds. Thus, we created the concept of the Casa on a Cloud.

Mixing modern shapes with classic lines, whimsical moments with grounded materials, creating zones for togetherness and yet carving out space for each individual, this eclectic mix has a laid-back, breezy vibe.

The living room, grounded with a deep green area rug, is inspired by clouds across the jungle canopy, and accented with angled seating volumes silhouetted against a blue sky or a fiery sunset.

In the dining area, we mixed a classic rattan dining armchair with an airy glass top dining surface, atop a sunset-colored rug to pull in the tones of the artworks. The perfect seat for a glass of whisky after dinner is found tucked behind a dividing shelf, in a jazzy corner by the piano. Brass elements lend an elevated, classic touch to the edgy street art, a subtle statement of a taste for the finer things.

A calming palette sets the tone for her study with cool, cloud-like greys and watery blues. Air-purifying sheers keep the harsh sun out and yet the room naturally bright.

Upstairs, a slick and polished den for sophisticated sports fans and art enthusiasts represents the meeting of two spatial archetypes: the classic, moody lounge and the vivid, contemporary art gallery. The corridors, too, are a journey through abstracted compositions, lined with artworks that breathe vivid color into the spacious atmosphere.
