The Upton
By LO ELI
It’s always good to work with clients who know exactly what they want, but the work gets particularly exciting when they’re willing to get playful with existing elements, hack conventional furniture, and allow us to create custom feature artworks! Connoisseurs in wine and travel, this home-based working couple wanted to design personality and comfort into their rental with a view of the Hong Kong harbour.
The Upton acts as both a home and an office, and rather than try and keep them separate, we nested a bed into the bay window for mental breaks during the work day, as well as cozy night-time reads. A large wine fridge built into the office cabinet is complemented by a feature concrete dining table and bespoke bar, the centrepieces for social evenings with friends and family.
When the sunset spills over the harbour and into the living room, sheer fabric panels suspended over the sofa glow both warm and cool, an ephemeral reminder of our original concept and colour palette.

“We loved our experience working with Lo. She took the time to genuinely understand what we wanted for our home and we couldn't be more thrilled with the result. We've been in our place for over a year now and we still love coming home every day. Lo helped us to create the atmosphere we wanted in every room - from the big statement pieces like our dining table through to the finer details of plants and artwork.”
