Oasisrama
By LO ELI
The Oasisrama project was centered on providing a calming oasis of comfort for the residents, with modern edges and sculptural interest, reflecting - in softer textures - the panoramic view of the city and harbor.
In the hopes of hosting frequent gatherings, the clients required that the living area remain spacious but maximize seating. We achieved a layout to seat 12+ persons, with a large L-shaped sofa and bespoke upholstery at the bay window, which serves as a second layer of seating. A room with ample volume unusual to HK, there is an intimacy to it, most palpable in the sprawling low profile sofa we named “the lagoon” with its rich blue tonality and body-embracing down cushions. A reclaimed elm coffee table warms and grounds the calming blue carpet, while the chandelier gives a contrasting metallic polish.
A striking reading nook faces the sofa area. The curves of a pure white replica Etcetera armchair juxtapose strong angles of a floor lamp and side table.
Geometric ambient lighting and concrete-potted greenery around the home lend another layer of minimalistic, urban warmth.
Sophisticated materiality was important for this project, with a palette of black lava stone details, mixed copper and brass elements, hand-dyed natural flax-linen textiles, watery blues, walnut and ebony tones, light grey rattan, pure white wool, and touch of concrete.
The dining room chairs were chosen for their changing nature: the untreated copper will continue to patina over time, wearing boldly the marks of use. Each day, their color transitions from pale rose to a fiery orange as the sun moves and reflects across the apartment.
A free-form mirror is hung over the piano as another water element, and reflects all angles of the iconic city skyline as you walk through the space.
Stepping out onto the balcony, a planter with bright yellow flowers welcomes a morning sip of coffee on a round rattan lounge.
The rooftop, with seating for 12+ pax on teak framed lounge furniture, is made private and tropical with tall fan palm planters mixed with fern and philodendron. Single pots of Bougainvillea and Lemon burst with vivid color at sunny heights above the city."
